JARRACHARRA

Here is a collection of still frames from a long-form documentary project that I’m currently directing, titled Jarracharra. This is a very special project about a very special collective of female indigenous artists from the Bábbarra Women's Centre in Maningrida in Arnhem Land.

In September 2019, these talented artists travelled to Paris, France for an exhibition of their work. We documented the journey from Maningrida to Paris and back again, but in March 2020, work on the documentary had to be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two years later, work resumed on the project, the scope of which had been broadened by virtue of the Black Lives Matter movement, which resulted in an explosion of new artistic voices from indigenous Australia.
